Smooth Music Summer ’23!
This Smooth Music summer of 2023 is going fast! In fact, the band has been on fire and concerts in the park have been in full swing. Since we kicked off a season of smooth at Laguna Niguel on June 23, it’s been a LOVE FEST. The band returned to Venice West in Los Angeles on June 24. Then on to Garden Grove on June 30 and a quick 4th of July swing to the Bay Area. Ultimately, Yachty by Nature hit the sand at San Clemente pier on July 6. What a legendary Yacht Rock Party on the Beach! In addition, check out this picture of the massive seaside crowd. Importantly, by the time we got to Africa and later Footloose, the dance party was ON!
Summer Cruise
The smooth summer cruise continued to Simi Valley, Irvine, Sun Valley in Idaho, and Sea Legs at the Beach. Lots of amazing highlights raising money for Mountain Humane in Idaho and hopping in the Big Wood River with the band ahead of the show! Soon, we cruised up to Campos Winery near Discovery Bay. By the time Yachty by Nature cruised back up the coast to San Luis Obispo for SLO Brew Rock, we were ready for a kickass inside venue. SLO Brew came through with epic sound, a packed house, and a super evening of Yacht Rock.
Hangar OC Fair
Next up, we were really ready to play smooth music on the big stage this summer. Moreover, when we booked The Hangar, we had been working on connecting with the Orange County Fair forever. That huge stage and big sound is something the band had always recognized as a crowning achievement to connect with our amazing OC fans. On August 5, we rocked the house there and hope you enjoy the video of 1,000 plus people in the Hangar with phones lit up and waving to the sound of Scotty McYachty singing Come Sail Away.
We are still reeling from an incredible experience at the Hangar and a packed house. The sound was absolutely wonderful. The huge video wall behind us was inspiring and incredible. In fact, we LOVED seeing so many of our super fans there. We hope everyone had such a Yachty time and the phones lighting up the night was such a punctuation of that LOVE. Thank you so much! In our 7 years of playing that song, we had never seen so many lights.
Smooth Music Rancho Santa Margarita
It was pretty awesome to see the same reaction the next night on 8/6 with our performance at Rancho Santa Margarita. Take a look at this picture and see if you can see yourself! Another incredible concert and check Facebook and Instagram for Captain Carl’s jump split off the stage during Africa. RSM really brought the house down again with a crowd of about 3,000 people. This is our 4th concert out at RSM and that crowd never disappoints.
Thanks to our hometown crowd for coming out there and don’t forget we’ll be at the Coach House on September 8!

To say that this summer of smooth music might be the smoothest in history, may be an understatement. With last year still having some Covid 19 fallout, this Summer of 2023 is full steam ahead. In fact, the S.S. Yachty by Nature is gaining momentum at a fast pace. In February, we said a reluctant and fond farewell to our guitarist of 6 years, Ben Shreddin. Ultimately, we welcomed new guitarist Wes Coast to the band. Wes is a fine player, a talented and creative improvisor. Additionally, he’s hopping in headfirst to the World’s Funnest yacht rock band. Speaking of which, Ben Shreddin’ said goodbye after a huge show at Pala Casino with a sold out crowd of 900 fans!
Along with learning 100 new songs, Wes is busy adding some new and creative favorites to the setlist too. We recently added Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder and Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes. The band debuted those tunes at Biergarten HB to a crowd of 400 and we were so exhilarated to hear the audience gasp at the guitar and keyboard intro to Bette Davis Eyes. Courtney Cruise absolutely crushed it! In addition, we premiered a mashup of Boz Scaggs and Dua Lipa AND the song Sunrise by Simply Red. Too fun!
Summer 2022
If you recall last Summer of 2022, we went from an incredible show at Oracle Park in San Francisco in July to Scotty McYachty coming down with Covid. We had to cancel our Sea Legs show that Saturday. Ultimately, it was one of the toughest weekends ever. Importantly, we hate to let one of our absolute favorite venues down. We are still so thankful for all the grace and understanding from last year. This time around a summer of smooth music returned to Sea Legs on July 15. The schedule has been packed with some amazing dates like Whisky a Go Go, Hangar OC Fair, San Luis Obispo, lots of Bay Area travels and even Sun Valley, Idaho.
Funnest Yacht Rock Band
Over the last few months, the band has traversed the country bringing smooth tunes from sea to shining sea. As California’s premiere yacht rock band, we played Florida in January for Emeril’s big fundraiser. Yachty by Nature came back to Florida and played in Orlando for Dish Network’s convention there in May. As such, we love to travel and turn people on to yacht rock for the first time. In fact, we had a ton of first-timers come to our show at Knitting Factory in North Hollywood and more recently at Biergarten HB.
The band even jaunted back to the Bay Area and played for a Napa Birthday party. Nothing like smooth yacht rock music nestled among the grape vines. It was a beautiful but chilly night out there. Moreover, it was a relief to then play a balmy evening at the City of Palm Desert and celebrate our resident Gemini, Courtney Cruise’s birthday! As always, we are adding songs and fun stuff to the show. The dance party that erupted that night in Palm Desert really showed us how fun it is when audiences respond so electrically to our vibe. Thank you for such amazing times everybody. Take a good look at the summer of smooth calendar and hope to see you a few times over the next couple months.
