Mellow Month of May!

By : Captain Carl | Comments : No comment | Category : Yachty by Nature

Mellow Month of May!!!

Coming off an epic April, Yachty by Nature is enjoying the sweet soothing rest of a relaxed May.  In fact, we haven’t had two weekends off for about a year now!  So, a Mellow Month of May was well deserved.  As always, thank you so much for all the love and support, the band is on FIRE. We’ve had to say no to more gigs than we’d like.  But we are also ramping up for an ultra smooth pleasure cruise this summer.

The end of April was a fun swing thru Fullerton at Slidebar, a new venue at Back Bay Bistro, and Laguna’s Grapes for Grads.  Interestingly, the power outage in Newport Beach shocked the crowd at the end of a killer show on the water.  And the next day, April 28, the band rocked the yacht at the Festival of Arts Pageant of the Masters grounds.  In fact, we made the local news in Laguna Beach at Stu News.  As always it was a blast raising money and wine tasting with our Laguna Beach friends.  Indeed, it was a an amazingly fun way to end the month and kick off to the seas of smooth for a couple weeks.

Mellow Gold May

As always, Yachty by Nature is constantly adding sweet new tunes and savoring our crowd’s thirst for smooth 70’s.  Additionally, we just added a trip to the Midwest in October as the only West Coast yacht rock band to play not only the East Coast in North Carolina but now the Midwest.  In fact, our friends over at the Ron Burgundy band in Chicago are seeing a really successful time and we’ve even entertained some of their fans at a show we did in Arizona.  We love that crossover and moreover, we love to see yacht rock tribute bands playing ALL LIVE!  Speaking of AM Gold, it’s been really fun to add songs like She’s Gone as such soft rock showstoppers all the way live.  So, count on more of that always.

Next up, the Mellow Month of May will kick off with our shows out in Palm Springs.  What a smooth privilege to follow up the band Berlin who kicked off the Palm Desert Concerts in the Park.  Yachty by Nature brings 70’s and 80’s soft smooth to Palm Desert on May 16 at 7:30pm.  Additionally, it’s a free show, outside, and a great way to kick off the season of smooth.  Summer is gonna get Yachty!  Next, we drop anchor for the tiki crowd at a SOLD OUT event at Tiki Caliente on May 17 at 8:00pm.

Groovy Yacht Rock summer tour!

This groovy summer, your favorite Yacht Rock tribute band will be hitting the road for plenty of outdoor concerts.  Mellow month of May is here!  As it stands, mark that calendar for smooth seas ahead.  Take a look at all the outdoor concert stages where we will rock the yacht:  Palm Desert, San Clemente, Rancho Santa Margarita (plus Rancho Fest), Chino Hills, Fountain Valley (Summerfest), Diamond Bar, Calimesa, Monrovia, and Laguna Beach.  Of course, we’ll post specific dates and times both here and on social media.  We are pumped to add some new cities and frequent other towns like Palm Desert for the 2nd year in a row.  In fact, they had super 80’s group Berlin open their sweet Summer Concert Series.  Nothing like playing the same stage as those 80’s rockers.

Smooth New Venues…

In addition, Yachty by Nature will be mellow soft rockin’ some of our favorite haunts like Sea Legs, The Fifth, and Costello’s.  But we add some new destinations like Jamul Casino in San Diego and The District in Tustin as well.  No matter what, it’s gonna be a smooth cruise as always.

Mellow Month of May new tunes

We just posted a survey on Facebook to inquire what songs our fans want.  It was very telling and fun to see the tunes that resonate with our Yachtience.  In addition, we found that many were looking for the Kenny Loggins hit, This is It.  Shockingly, it was one of the songs we already had on our list and practiced it last night.  It’s gonna be SMOOTH!  As always, bear with us as we are working hard to put together the show and the songs that make us #1.  Over the last few gigs, we have added Summer Breeze, She’s Gone, and Give me the Night.  Nothing like Scotty McYachty singing his butt off and Ira shakin’ it to some George Benson.  We really appreciate your support and love that when we add some super tunes, they are so well received.

As I have been saying lately, the band is really doing some special stuff.  Count on us to continue to bring you the best LIVE yacht rock show out there.  In the end, reach out and help us add those new tunes.  If you have some favorites, feel free to email us or post to Facebook and Instagram.  In fact, we just posted up that survey and we had some great requests.  Additionally, Yachty by Nature will do our best to add those to our song list.  And, just recently, we practiced FM by Steely Dan and Dancing in the Moonlight, two yachty hammers.

Yachty Merch

Last but not least, order your t-shirts and captains hats ONLINE!  Our shirts are selling all across the country.  As always, we love to see all that Yachty love out there.  And, nothing easier than donning that one of a kind Yachty t-shirt!  Importantly, the yacht rock outfits are super important.  Buy a shirt and make this the very best mellow month of May!  These shirts are super comfy, retro and vintage style and make the statement that you get Yachty!  Moreover, let’s rep Yachty by Nature!  #yachtrock #mellow #mellowgold #amgold #monthofmay #mellowmay #yachtybynature

Yeah Buoy St. Paddy’s!

Thanks for all the amazing support from our fans!  Two weeks ago, we had an amazing show in Las Vegas at Topgolf.  In fact, we returned later in the week to play for a corporate party for Amazon Web Services over at the Sands Expo Convention Center for about 7,000 employees.  Ultimately, check out our snow day on Thursday and the fact we couldn’t leave Las Vegas.  Oh what a week in Vegas it was.  If you missed the yacht party, stay tuned as I’m sure we’ll return to Las Vegas soon.  And if you feel like driving down to the Colorado River, we play on March 30 at the Tropicana in Laughlin.

Additionally, we had plenty of Vegas and Arizona fans at our last show in Laughlin and the yacht party was alive and kicking that night.  This year, St. Paddy’s month will be fun filled and then some.  Prepare to get yachty and come sail away with us as never before.  Increasingly, the band has just been on fire.

Reminder:  What is Yacht Rock?

As always, we love to educate our fans on Yacht Rock and it’s that jazzy/R&B laced smooth music from 1976 to 1984.  In fact, it is well produced with lush vocals and harmonies and includes those badass session players of the 70’s and 80’s like Toto’s players.  Many of those artists appear on even Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall and Thriller and captivated that smooth sound produced by others like Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross and so many more.  This genre of music was introduced back into the conversation by J.D. Ryznar and his YouTube series titled Yacht Rock.  If you haven’t seen it, it is a must watch.

Of course, he also has a podcast by the name Beyond Yacht Rock and the famed Yachtski scale where they judge songs by whether they make it as Yacht Rock or Nyacht Rock.  As a band, we’ve tried to stay true to the Yachtski scale but we know that our fans love to hear some Nyacht rockers as well to keep the party flowing.  As always, we’ll do our best to provide you with the smoothest in yacht rock and the grooviest soft rock and other tunes that keep the yacht party going.

If you’d like some other creative musings about the genre, there’s plenty!  My favorite list of tunes appears here and here’s the authors of Yacht Rock blog.  In addition, check out some very creative musings https://medium.com/discoverbest-blog/in-defence-of-yacht-rock-c8f575c1f5b1 .  More importantly, find your Yacht Rock jams on Sirius/XM with their station Yacht Rock as well.

The Band…

For St. Paddy’s day, the band has been on a tear and you just won’t find a nicer crew of sailors than Yachty by Nature.  When I look around, Big Wave Dave keeping us in the pocket and Rim shredding sax over all the smooth.  There’s Doctor Ira just killing it on the performances and you just never know what he’s going to do with a wireless mic and that jazz flute!  Then, Ben Shreddin’ kills it softly with his song and then ramping it up for those Toto solos that will gently melt your face off.  Scotty McYachty absolutely crushing the vocals on everything from Michael McDonald to Hall and Oates and beyond and then rockin’ those crazy Steely Dan bass lines all the while.

And I’m your humble Captain Carl just trying to hang on to those keyboard stylings and solos that our Yacht Rockers have emblazoned into our blood stream and sing a few songs that will anchor us in.  Lastly, I’m so damn proud of these guys for working so hard and being amazing people and playing so passionately for our yacht rock lovers out there.  And, listen to all those Eagles harmonies over everything.  Fact is, it is no small feat so it’s so cool to see us playing amazing venues and stoking the fire of our fans passion for that smooth music!

And lastly, enjoy a Happy St. Paddy’s day and Stay Yachty,

Your Captain,

Captain Carl

Wow, so much going on in the world of Yachty by Nature!  It’s been tough to slow it down and just chill. In addition, it’s been really fun to be the Hardest Working Yacht Rock Band this side of the Mississippi. Well, other than our friends, Mustache Harbor, they are always busy too.
