Captain’s Log…June 2017

By : Captain Carl | Comments : No comment | Category : Yachty by Nature

Captain’s Log!  June 2017

The Captain’s Log is happy to report that Yachty by Nature is crushing it lately!  In fact, the hardest working Yacht Rock band in Southern California is DROPPING ANCHOR near you sometime in June.  No doubt, YBN has been tearing up the AM Gold all over the southland and Vegas.  Additionally, we continue hitting the hottest Live Music venues in June.  For obvious reasons, get those boat shoes on, tie your ascot tight, and ready that captain’s hat for more Yacht Rock fun.  We hope you pop that champagne with us and toast to that smooth yacht party that is coming your way.  Ultimately, we bring the Ron Burgundy playlist and wardrobe.  As well, we’ll Drop Anchor with the portable Yacht Party that YBN is famous for.

In addition, since we last updated the Captain’s Log, our gig at the House of Blues Anaheim on May 20 was a phenomenal success.  HOB went all out and the Foundation Room was absolutely YACHTY!  Of course, to accompany the SMOOTH sounds of Yachty by Nature, the confetti bombs were going off all night.  In addition, our Yachty bartenders and servers were decked out, the flamingos represented and resort attire did not disappoint.  It was a huge Yachty night of epic yacht rock and vintage fun and frolic.  Don’t miss out on the next one July 1 and mark the calendar out to July 29 for another follow up to our smooth pleasure cruise.

Thanks for live music…

As always, we want to THANK our discerning audience for knowing the difference between Yacht Karaoke and real Yacht Rock.  Playing backing tracks and “pretending” to play those badass solos on Toto songs and playing it all LIVE are two distinctly different things.  We are so proud that our Yachtiences appreciate LIVE MUSIC and support live musicians bringing that great flavor, improvisation, and impromptu fun that is unique to playing it live.  #yachtrock #softrock #smoothrock #shipwrecked #yachtslanding #shipfaced #ambrosia #hallandoates

Lake Arrowhead 6/3 and Marina del Rey 6/10

So, here we go!  Incidentally, our next stop for the Captain’s Log is Lake Arrowhead and gracing the shores of the mountains of Southern California.  We can’t wait to rev up the yacht and drop anchor for a summer cruise on the Lake.  Accordingly, we hear the audience up there is amazing.  Therefore, we can’t wait to drop the SMOOTH sounds of groovy 70’s and 80’s soft rock on you.

yacht rock marina del rey yachty by nature party on the beach

In addition, we follow up this week’s mountain adventure with a Party on the Beach in Marina del Rey, which is GROUND ZERO for Yacht Rock.  Just imagine being magically whisked away to 1978 and a yacht party in the harbor.  Ahh, the sipping champagne and listening to the AM Gold coming out of the boat stereo.  Above all, Los Angeles will host our Yacht Party for the very first time and what a first time it will be.  In fact, we go on stage at 4:00pm sowe’ll crank up your Happy Hour to another level!  ART/SEA is putting on a fantastic party on the beach at Marina Beach.  Consequently, it’s gonna be an amazing trip to play some Michael McDonald and Hall and Oates tunes right on the water there.  Finally, this event will be absolute YACHT ROCK GOLD!

Romano’s 6/16

Join Yachty by Nature for a maiden voyage on the killer stage at Romano’s on June 16. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to reaching out to our inland empire Yacht Rock fans!  Finally, a concert for those who have been patiently awaiting the Yacht Party coming this way. It will be one SMOOTH pleasure cruise.  We’ll float your boat with pina coladas & your favorite 70’s and 80’s hits.  For example, hits from Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, & Toto. Resort attire and captain’s hats are encouraged but not required. Ultimately, kick back, relax, and let Yachty by Nature take you away to your Yacht Rock paradise. $10 presale tickets and $12 at the door.yacht rock at black marlin with yachty by nature

Captain’s Log for Black Marlin 6/24

Put the Yacht on Cruise Control for an epic evening at the Black Marlin on June 24.  In all, Black Marlin’s food is AMAZING & the Captain’s Log isn’t bashful about that boast. In fact, you’ll love the cut of their jib.  Pop the champagne and prepare to groove with us. We are setting a course for adventure and can’t wait for our anticipated return gig in Tustin. Anchors AWEIGHHHHHH!!!!!  Like sailing off to American Bandstand in 1978, we are playing the playlist of your life.  Above all, we’ll be getting funky with it, and having some Yachtical Fun!!!!  First and foremost, don’t miss the good food, groovy music, and an epic evening at the Black Marlin from 7:30 to 10:30pm.

Captain comes Back to House of Blues on July 1!

FREE admission.  We’ll be eagerly returning to the scene of the crime on July 1.  In fact, the YBN Captain’s Log reports that we had a blast with an epic crowd last month in the Foundation Room in Anaheim.  Accordingly, prepare for a repeat of the fun, the adventure, the guest singers, the prizes, and the confetti.   Your captains of smooth offer groovy tunes and smooth soft rock.  Ultimately, it’ll be another dance party on the Lido Deck and hopefully no one will need to walk the plank.  No doubt, please mark the calendar twice because we’ll be back by popular demand on July 29 too.  AHOY!!!

Yacht Rock weekend in Vegas!

Yacht Rock Weekend

Yachty Yucaipa!

What a Yacht Rock weekend for Yachty by Nature in Vegas! Last week, YBN started its summer tour of Southern California with a breakout performance at the Yucaipa Music & Arts Festival  and continued on Saturday night at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. Friday night was Cinco de Mayo and with perfect summer conditions and a beautiful dusky atmosphere in Yucaipa, YBN rocked the yacht to begin a weekend of music and art in Yucaipa.

As the fun crowd built with each song, we gazed over a canopy of lights and people in the downtown area. Our style of A.M. Gold was captivating the audience to yell out their favorite requests and get on the dance floor and groove. Yacht Rock took over the night and favorites of the night were tunes like Steely Dan’s Peg, Rupert Holmes’ Pina Colada song, and of course, our encore specialty, Toto’s Rosanna! Oh What a Night!!!!! What a great feeling getting off stage to a loud ovation and the warmth of a great and thankful audience that rocked out with us on EVERY song. Yucaipa was a love fest and then watching the next group Sonorous rip it up was the perfect remedy for tired concert afterglow. Country rocker James Wesley closed out the night with a killer performance capping a fantastic evening of smooth music.

Vegas Baby…

After the concert on Friday night, the yacht rock weekend really began as some of the band hopped in our cars and headed off immediately for our first gig in Las Vegas. What a smooth cruise out to sin city with exuberant expectations and the anticipation of yacht rockin’ that big stage at the Brooklyn Bowl.

Waking up in Vegas and ready to hit the strip, I (Captain Carl) donned the Flamingo suit and brought SMOOTH to a new level hanging out at the pool at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino! Selfies ensued and gawkers had plenty of action watching me strut through crowds of Kentucky Derby watchers that stared appreciatively at the Flamingos and Captain’s Hat cruising the strip. After all, Yacht Rock is a way of life not just a genre of music, right? Pretty sure Bertie Higgins would approve.

Yacht Rock weekend at Brooklyn Bowl

First, arriving at the venue for sound check, the band was so pumped! Amazing new venue for us, big sound, big lights, big stage and tons of SMOOTHNESS ready in the holster. Additionally, it was a healthy weekend crowd of early comers hustling in to get a good spot. Likewise, cracking the seal with a little Love Boat intro and then the groove of Ride Like the Wind to start the show.   Ultimately, we could tell it would be an awesome night. Our Las Vegas crowd was epic!!!!!!  We had a fantastic new crew of fans and many made the trip from Orange County too.  Even better, we had a whole new crew calling themselves “dinghies” and “life jackettes”.  Classic yacht rock weekend in Vegas indeed.

Thanks to our new Facebook friends and to old Vegas acquaintances.  We added some amazing new crews of people outfitted to join our regatta.  The dance floor ignited with our Michael McDonald tunes.  And the crew was flowing with me as I surfed through the crowd on my keytar. Gotta love our new crew that spawned the term Dinghies and Life Jackettes to describe our male and female groupies! CLASSIC!!!!!! What an awesome bunch at the concert and what a love fest for the music we adore…smooth soft rock played with passion by Yachty by Nature. Lastly, THANK YOU LAS VEGAS!!!! In fact, I can’t wait to see these AMAZING Yacht Rock lovers again soon!

Finishing out the yacht rock weekend concert was a bittersweet farewell.  But I know we’ll see our Vegas peeps again soon. Stay tuned and stay sexy Vegas!
