By : Captain Carl | Comments : No comment | Category : Yachty by Nature

Yacht RockTober is here and Yachty by Nature is hitting the high seas.  Although we’ve been on the wedding circuit lately, we return to Arizona on October 21 and hit the Harp Inn for our maiden voyage there for a Halloween party on October 26.  So, don’t miss the boat and watch for new dates on the calendar!  Furthermore, read on Yacht Rocktober to find out the fun we’ve been having all summer 🙂

Seas the Day!

July was filled with a big Captain Carl birthday concert at Arroyo Trabuco and Ladera Ranch!  In fact, the next day at Ladera Ranch, we packed the park with about 3,000 smooth sailing captains and captainettes.  Additionally, the video above featured some really cruizy back up dancers and singers at the concert.  More importantly, they rocked the Yacht hard for an impressive rendition of Rock With You by Michael Jackson.  Indeed, thank you Sally and the girls.

August…

All in all, August was punctuated by a Yachty cruise on the Colorado River.  Inasmuch, Yachty by Nature took over the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Laughlin among a sea of captains hats.  As a matter of fact, we rocked the yacht with a crew of 300.  And, the Yacht Rock scene was literally off the charts.  We look forward to a triumphant return as we’ve booked March 30, 2019 for another smooth pleasure cruise.

More importantly, we closed out August at the Monrovia Concert in the Park.  In addition,  we finally caught the ear of the coiners of the term “Yacht Rock”.  We had none other than J.D. Ryznar tuning in to our set list and the resulting tweet storm was awesome.  He is the host of the podcast Beyond Yacht Rock found here     and he had a bunch of stellar tweets about us playing some pretty damn good #yachtrock !  Go Team Yachty!  Here’s an excerpt of the Yachty tweet storm 🙂  Similarly, it was amazing to measure up to the discerning smooth taste of the guys who invented the genre.  Yacht RockTober coming soon…

Yacht Rocktober September Tour!

Altogether, it was an epic summer of smooth and after a quick break, we opened a hot September.  In addition to opening for the Spazmatics at Silver Lakes in Eastvale, we had a really fun audience at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center fundraiser in Laguna Beach the next evening.  From there, we hopped on our flight to Sacramento the next week for a killer wedding up on the Sacramento River delta.  Playing at a mansion in Northern California was a blast!  Equally important, spending late nights up at the band house in Lodi was extra awesome.

Comparatively, it didn’t get any quieter for us the rest of the month.  We came back the next week for a rager at Costello’s on the 21st for Alyssa Coffman’s birthday.  And then, a perfect Saturday afternoon gig on the sand at Sea Legs in Huntington Beach the very next day was the sweetest smooth imaginable.  By and large, the next weekend at a new venue in Campus Jax.  Additionally, one of our favorite haunts, Black Marlin for a Sunday Funday brought a smooth September to a close.  Throw in a few more choice 70’s soft rock tunes and our set is always evolving and growing; our song list is outta control!

Yacht Summer Night Captain Carl

On a personal notes, I’d like to thank everyone for the big birthday wishes!  It was an amazing yacht summer night out at Arroyo Trabuco. In fact, we were in Mission Viejo with follow up in Ladera Ranch to see lots of friends and family get yachty with us.  Additionally, the McWitty wedding on my actual birthday was spectacular, especially when everyone jumped in the pool with their clothes on.  Oh What a Night indeed and a very memorable evening for that Captain Carl’s birthday.  As always, I’m super humbled and stoked that so many people around the country are resonating with this amazing band.  It’s always a smooth moment to realize that so many epic audiences understand our deep passion for this music and the entire Yachty vibe that we put out there.  Even more so, we love that our Yachtiences appreciate that this music is played ALL LIVE and no backing tracks.

On a sadder note, we lost a real superfan recently when our pal, Michael Donckels tragically passed away.  Our yachty hearts go out to his kids, his girlfriend Mika, and entire family.  As many of you know, he was genuinely Yachty and had a heart of gold.  As always, he loved that Paul Davis and so much of our soft rock set.  This entire summer will be a tribute to one amazing guy and a memorial to his constant support and love for the music project that he truly helped get off the ground.  We love you Mike!

Yacht Summer Nights San Diego

Speaking of Yacht Summer Nights, we are really looking forward to taking the yacht to San Diego for our maiden voyage at Tin Roof in the Gaslamp District next week.  Although there are plenty of great dates coming up, we’ve been playing San Diego a bit more as of late.  And, by the beard of Zeus, it’s so fun to grace the shores of Ron Burgundy’s hometown.  There will be more jazz flute, more smooth, and certainly more sexy to go around.  Spread the word  and feel free to share this email or share our posts from social media, we’d love to see you out there.

Sunday Funday at Country Club, August 5

Yacht summer nights resume in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach.  If you haven’t experienced a Sunday Funday with Yachty by Nature yet, here’s your chance!  Country Club is a fantastic way to spend a Sunday singing along to Hall and Oates, Toto and Steely Dan.  Most importantly, this place has amazing food, a beautifully yachty and country club vibe, super friendly staff, and delicious food.

The Muck, August 9

Ahoy Fullerton, here we come raising the sails for a smooth one at a really cool venue.  The good people at Muckenthaler Cultural Center recognized early that the Yacht Party must stop in for a proper helping of those 8 track and vinyl show stopping soft rock serenades.  We really look forward to playing in one of our favorite yachty towns and for a bunch of our strong followers in the Fullerton area – let’s get yachty!

Yacht Summer Night the river
